The SCU Library will be operating differently in fall 2020 to support your learning, research, and achievement, wherever you may be. We continue to provide access to resources, reference services, and instruction support. We have introduced a number of new services to support your success this quarter:
- Reservable Study Space: We are providing reservable study space this fall. To maximize safety, a limited number of study spaces are available. Learn more about reservable study space here. Please note the required health and safety protocols. For more details on our campus health and safety protocols, please visit our PreparedSCU website.
- Access to Physical Materials: We provide access to materials that aren’t available electronically through a pick-up service for those who are able to access campus and a residential delivery service for those who cannot. Learn more about our pick-up service here and our residential delivery service here.
- On-line resources: We continue to provide and support access to resources available electronically, including ebooks, articles, and streaming video. Learn more about accessing material remotely here.
- Scanning Services: We have expanded our scanning services-- if you would like an electronic copy of an article or book chapter from our collection, you can place a request through our scanning services.
- Borrowing from Other Libraries: Link+ and ILL are up and running to provide access to materials from other libraries. Learn more about placing Link+ and ILL requests here.
- Research & Reference: Our Subject Librarians and reference staff are available to meet with you. Use our 24/7 chat at any time or schedule a Zoom appointment for in-depth research assistance. More information about our research services is available here.
- Learning Remotely: A number of resources are available on our How to Learn Remotely with the Library Guide for students. For faculty members, contact a subject librarian if you would like to integrate information literacy into your course. Archives and Collections staff are also available to support integration of primary sources and rare books into courses. Information about our instruction services is available here.
- Popular Newspapers and Magazines: We provide electronic access to popular newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Learn more about accessing these resources here.
In addition to these foundational services, we are in the process of drafting a new strategic plan. This strategic plan builds on our new mission, vision, and values, and centers social justice. We look forward to engaging the campus community with the plan.
In this unusual year, our services may change with conditions and requirements for health and safety. Updates on all of our services can be found on our Library & Learning Commons Services Update guide.
Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about the resources or services you need.
Welcome back to the 2020 academic year!
